About AFI

Overall Goal:

To cure aniridia and its associated conditions.

Immediate Goal:

To help those affected by working to improve medical care and understanding, to raise funds for research projects that would help aniridia and its associated conditions, and to pursue better treatments and services to enable them to have a healthy, independent life.

Everyday Goal:

To promote awareness among the public and medical community through educational and fundraising programs, to dispel misconceptions, and finally, to pursue and unite people with aniridia to create an International Aniridia Registry which will collect data and in turn will help us with our goals above to move forward in research and treatments, and closer to a cure.

Being a subset of the low vision and blind community and empathetic with others who live with eye diseases as we do, we have pledged to help people with other visual problems through specific programs in which our needs are compatible. Please see our list of programs by clicking here.
